Business and Innovation Strategy [top]
A leading chemicals company developed a strong long-term view of "innovation drivers” in its industry, focusing first on eBusiness as an emerging value driver.

BSG Concours worked with the client to define the company’s vision as well as the role that innovation would have on its long-term business strategy.

This effort dramatically improved the planning process, and the Innovation Strategic Planning Methodology resulting from this engagement is now used in the annual strategic planning cycle for the company.

Business and Process Performance [top]
The client, representing a consolidation of several large and prestigious hospitals, was seeking ways to sustain an impressive, but threatened, innovation process and capability.

BSG Concours helped to assess, redesign, and implement processes geared to sustain continued innovation and agility, and to tie the new process designs to the client’s technology strategy.

As a result, the company is now on track to activate their redesigned core processes, creating a new platform for timely and effective innovation in the future. IT projects will be carefully scoped, prioritized, and delivered on time and within budget. Decision-making is far more transparent, and business integration issues can be escalated effectively.

Operational Strategy [top]
BSG Concours assisted this Fortune 500 forestry and paper company in successfully developing its global supply chain design driven from the customer perspective.

We assessed the supply chain to identify where the client could exploit operational synergies across its major business sectors.

As a result, the client gained improved internal and customer-facing capabilities, increased profitability, improved cost optimization and cash position, and enhanced position for further acquisitions.

eBusiness Strategy and Execution [top]
To help the large pharmaceutical business unit of a Fortune 100 company in fulfilling the heart of its eBusiness strategy, BSG Concours conducted a series of executive and cross-company workshops and management board briefings in order to develop and communicate an eBusiness Playbook and strategy.

A comprehensive eBusiness strategy, incubation process, and investment model has enabled the client to better develop and evaluate sound eBusiness models and further goals of gaining market share, increasing revenue, lowering operating costs, and attracting and retaining a Web-savvy workforce.

The client organization is also being "benchmarked” within the parent company structure as a leader in eBusiness, and is now viewed as an eBusiness leader among the other companies in their sector.

IT Strategy [top]
BSG Concours helped the IT organization of a leading pharmaceuticals company develop a fresh vision and strategy to align with the demands of their new client base and a new set of strategic business initiatives.

We helped them identify capability gaps and set core competency requirements, and introduced them to techniques for managing their transition, including balanced scorecards, organizational models, and program management.

As a result, this IT organization has become much more closely aligned with its business partners and is developing new competencies and capabilities to support them. Their business partners quickly recognized the improvement and are seeing increased – and measurable – business value from IT.

IT Governance [top]
BSG Concours assisted with the development of an organization and governance model for the newly merged IT organization within a Fortune 500 industrial products company following a major acquisition.

We helped design a top- level organization for the information systems activities, including the reporting structure and key governance processes necessary to enable rapid decision-making and close alignment with both business and IT strategies.

We helped reposition IT at this company to maximize business value creation, gain major cost efficiencies, and anticipate changes in the business.

IT Architecture [top]
BSG Concours helped this global data systems storage company with a program to manage and control their information technology architecture.

The client’s entire IT architecture – including applications, platforms, products, services, architects, stakeholders, and vendors – was successfully captured using our Business Architecture Framework.

Our collaborative approach to this engagement resulted in identification of systems and investment redundancies, vastly improved stakeholder alignment, development of enterprise-wide and domain-specific guiding principles, and improved architecture planning processes.

Technology Cost Optimization [top]
The food businesses within a leading agricultural products company were facing significant market pressures resulting in a need to reduce costs.

Responding to these changes required an agile and highly responsive IT organization with a low fixed cost structure and variable cost capabilities adapted for rapid and effective response to business needs and opportunities. BSG Concours executed a series of focused working sessions with key stakeholders to find both immediate and ongoing IT cost savings, and to define a shared services strategy and business plan for IT.

Based on this work, our client realized $10 million in IT savings in the first six months, and is confident that the $16 million and 20% cost reduction goals will be exceeded. In the process, they have significantly improved IT’s alignment with the business units they support.

Global Talent Sourcing [top]
This large, Fortune 100 diversified corporation had begun to encounter a consistent theme across the majority of its businesses: the most challenging constraint on growth was the ability to deploy skilled resources to new customers and businesses. BSG Concours executed a comprehensive Global Talent management approach that would enable global growth while promoting scalability and strong financial performance.

Starting from a global talent sourcing strategy, we identified desirable locations, using our selection frameworks to determine whether the activity should be sourced with employees or third party outsourcing service providers. Once the plan was in place, BSG Concours developed an RFP for each outsourced engagement and ran a fair, unbiased selection process.

Today the client enjoys a far more virtual, flexible, highly diversified engaged workforce composed of almost 20% non-employees. The talent constraint on growth has been lifted and its global sourcing has fostered intimacy with markets that were previously underserved, creating even more opportunities to grow profitably with a broader global footprint.

Information Systems for HR (e-HR) [top]
This large energy corporation had marked its fourth attempt to get its e -HR project off the ground. BSG Concours quickly diagnosed the issues and barriers to the client’s success.

We assessed the client’s e-HR efforts, assisted in vendor selection, and crafted the corrective actions needed to business alignment, project management and stakeholder management.

We worked with the client team providing practical advice on their most pressing e-HR decisions including executable next steps, vendor issues, and current systems troubleshooting. We also assisted in creating a successful implementation plan and helped the client swiftly realize business benefits including increased efficiency, cost effectiveness, and overall performance.

Custom Executive Education [top]
The corporate university of a global manufacturing company was in need of a training design for their Supply Chain/eBusiness development program.

BSG Concours leveraged our proven methodologies for executive education and our excellence in supply chain strategy and execution. We customized the training to fit the particular needs of the client’s employees and their work culture.

Resulting from this effort, the client witnessed a vast improvement in customer service and ultimately experienced $60M in annual productivity savings.
